Our Mission Statement:
Art Clay Society is a community of metal clay artists designed to foster artistic, business, and personal growth through inspiration, education and communication.
Our Purpose:
- To encourage, maintain, and further the highest standards of technical and educational excellence in metal clay
- To serve as a resource for all metal clay artists
- To promote and support public awareness, acceptance, and enjoyment of metal clay
- To organize and assist in the establishment and maintenance of community Art Clay Chapters worldwide
- To foster communication amongst and between Art Clay Society Chapters and individual members
- To provide education, marketing, and business support to area Chapters and their Chapter Leaders
Our Members:
Art Clay Society consists of metal clay artists from around the world who specialize in a wide variety of techniques and media. Members of the Society are often educators in the field of metal clay, though being an educator is certainly not a requirement for membership.
In fact, Art Clay Society offers two types of membership:
- Signature Members are Society members who also happen to be Art Clay World Certified Instructors.
- Associate Members are Society members who are not Art Clay World Certified Instructors, but who may be certified through another organization or may simply be involved in the field of metal clay solely for their own enjoyment and with no intention of teaching.
The only true requirement for membership in the Art Clay Society is an appreciation of metal clay.
Who May Join Art Clay Society?
Art Clay Society is open and available for any metal clay artist, teacher, or enthusiast. Once a member, Art Clay Society has no continuing requirements other than our minimal annual dues and continuing enthusiasm for the field of metal clay. Of course, we always hope that Society members desire to take an active role in our organization. There are opportunities for publishing educational articles, displaying artwork, and for participation in local Art Clay Society Chapters. Join here.
Our Goals:
- To publish a quarterly newsletter focused on the continuing education and developing techniques within the field of metal clay
- To maintain a website to serve as a resource for metal clay artists and enthusiasts, which will contain an online interactive forum, gallery, Society Members Directory, and downloadable educational tools
- To assist in the further creation and development of local Chapters across the globe
- To provide marketing, business, and financial support to local Chapter Leaders
- To always foster positive rapport between the metal clay community and the general public
What is the Relationship Between Art Clay Society and Art Clay World, USA?
Currently, Art Clay World, USA is the sponsoring entity behind Art Clay Society. Art Clay World, USA graciously allows the Art Clay Society to use Art Clay Headquarters and all its technology and equipment, which is what enables us to create our website and publish our Quarterly, the internationally-distributed journal of the Art Clay Society. While the overall desire is for Art Clay Society to achieve complete financial independence, we are incredibly fortunate to have a sponsor to assist us until our goal of independence is reached. This relationship between Art Clay Society and Art Clay World, USA has also allowed for a strong educational partnership, wherein enthusiasts and educators can share ideas, techniques, and collaborate on projects and endeavors.
What is the relationship between Art Clay Society and its Local Chapters?
Art Clay Society is the foster parent of its Local Chapters. We are here to assist with organization, marketing, and maintenance of the Chapters. The Chapter Leader is the true force behind each individual Chapter, yet the Society is the support for the Chapter Leader. The Society is here to provide for the Chapter Leaders, offering assistance with mailings and Chapter publications as well as resource gathering. As the Society grows, develops, becomes ever stronger, and builds itself financially, the Society will be able to offer more and more support and opportunities to our Chapters and Chapter Leaders. For the
time being, Chapter Leaders must be aware that they will be taking charge of their Chapters' planning, meeting times and places, and activities. The Society serves as a resource for the Chapter Leaders, as we are available to assist in the planning of meetings, help in finding meeting locations, and networking to share ideas and inspiration for activities, guest speakers, and technique sharing.
